Komsekula is a Sami protection symbol that would hang over the Sami cradle /komsen/ and protect the child against evil spirits, illness and bring good luck with the tinkling of the small silver rings. There is always an odd number of rings – an even number is believed to bring bad luck. The Komsekulan is, among other things, a popular christening gift.
