The Pärlälven jewelry collection gets its name from the Pärlälven, the last undeveloped river in Jokkmokk municipality that winds 50 kilometers from its source in Arjeplog municipality to Purkijaure in Jokkmokk municipality where it joins the Lilla Luleälv.
The river is a fishing paradise and on certain stretches only fly fishing is allowed. In the 18th century, river pearl mussels were fished here, hence the beautiful name Pärlälven. Now the river pearl mussel is protected.
