Wool is what can be called self-cleaning in the sense that the wool fiber contains substances that in many cases neutralize bad smells and transport moisture away from the body and fabric.
If you want to freshen up your garment, it is almost always enough to hang out outdoors for ventilation. It is most effective in humid weather. Always use a wool detergent when washing so as not to ruin the lanolin in the wool, and your garment will serve you for a long time! Most of our cardigans and sweaters can be machine washed on a wool program 30 C, if the need arises.
