Komsekula is a Sami protection symbol that would hang over the Sami cradle \/komsen\/ and protect the child against evil spirits, illness and bring good luck with the tinkling of the small silver rings. There is always an odd number of rings \u2013 an even number is believed to bring bad luck. The Komsekulan is, among other things, a popular christening gift.<\/p>\n
